The Student Pediatric Society was established by medical students with guidance from faculty members in the Department of Pediatrics to promote awareness of health care and disease prevention in children, provide advice from residents and faculty members in general pediatrics and pediatric subspecialties, and support the interaction between pediatric faculty, medical students and the community.
Student Volunteer Opportunities
There are several activities that the Student Pediatric Society is involved in, including the Child Life program, Four Diamonds Fund, Ronald McDonald House and adolescent medicine tutoring. In the upcoming months, the group hopes to expand to include more volunteer opportunities and foster an appreciation of the pediatric field.
Current volunteer activities include:
- Penn State Dance Marathon (THON)
- Inpatient Child Life opportunities
- Emergency Department Child Life opportunities
- Resident-medical student mentorship program
- Pediatric tutoring
- Pediatric skills night
- Ronald McDonald House
- Paw Prints magazine
Physicians interested in presenting a lunch lecture to the Student Pediatric Society are asked to email Anna Scipioni at email@example.com.
