Mark J. Young Award

Young, M.D., who became the founding chair of the Department of Health Evaluation Sciences on July 1, 1997. The program was officially launched July 1, 1999, with the enrollment of seven physician students. Under Dr. Young’s leadership, the program graduated twenty physician investigators during the years 2001 through 2004. Dr. Young remained very active in the program as a teacher, advisor, and mentor until his unexpected death in April 2004.

Each year PHS honors a graduating student with the Mark J. Young Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Public Health Sciences Graduate Program.
