Phases III & IV

The fourth year in medical school has been characterized by many as the best year (to date!) of your life and the last year of medical school. The educational program for fourth year medical students, more than any other year in medical school, emphasizes 1) the interest of the individual and 2) the assumption of individual initiative and professional responsibility. The key feature of the program is its flexibility and individualism. Considerations of the individual student in arranging his/her fourth year schedule should be serious ones, directed toward a challenging program of education, preparations for residency training, and career clarification. The student has greater freedom and independence, but still is responsible in every way to his/her advisor and faculty at the College of Medicine.
